Suzie Qiu

Born in 1998, Wanshu started her violin playing at the age of seven. When she first played chamber music at age of fifteen, she immediately captivated by the intimacy and warmth of the sound of the viola. And has been majoring in viola ever since. 

After graduated with the 1st class with honours Bachelor of Music degree from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2021. Wanshu is extremely grateful to receive a full scholarship from Royal Academy of Music to continue he master study in viola performance. Her teachers include Jon Thorne, Susie Meszaros and Veit Hertenstein. Wanshu is greatly supported by British Council for her study.

Alongside with her classical training, Wanshu enjoys innovative music and creative performances. Some highlights include performing in Manchester international festival and Melbourne Arts festival with Maxine Peake, London Jazz Festival with Alice Zawadzki and recent performance alongside the Nash ensemble in the Wigmore hall premiering new pieces. She has also worked in a cross-project collaboration with dancer, producer and artists and from Germany, Netherlands, Russia, Italy and Lithuania. She’s currently working closely with several composers for solo works and ensemble commissions which will be performed in 2022/2023.
